โจ Freedom. Culture. Unity. Celebration.
Join URBT, URBT News, and Punch TV Studios as we partner with the City of Compton and Mayor Emma Sharif for one of the most anticipated cultural celebrations of the year Juneteenth 2025 at Compton College! ๐
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Black Independence Day, or Jubilee Dayย commemorates the moment on June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
Since then, Juneteenth has become a powerful symbol of Black resilience, celebration, and community. We honor that legacy with a festival that reflects both the history and the future, bold, bright, and unified.
Led by Mayor Emma Sharif
With decades of service to Compton and a career grounded in education, infrastructure reform, and inclusive leadership, Mayor Emma Sharif is a powerful advocate for progress. From restoring bridges to planting trees, Mayor Sharif has made Compton a beacon of opportunity and change.
Her leadership in partnering with URBT for this celebration brings together culture, history, and hope for a bigger, brighter Compton.
